Our sustainability management system
Management system
Our Sustainability Management System covers all management processes of the hotel and is based on risk analysis. We analyse risks in environment, natural disasters, community, culture, economy, quality, human rights, health and safety, and we apply a crisis management plan. We monitor our targets with performance indicators and continuously improve the system with the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle.
Legal compliance
We comply with current laws, regulations and international agreements, keep an up-to-date list of them and regularly inform our employees. We present all our permits and certificates, primarily the tourism operating certificate and the workplace opening and operating licence, to the relevant persons and institutions when requested.
Stakeholders, communication and employees
We use real images in our promotions and accurately describe our products and services across all channels. Through guest surveys, social media, e-mail and messaging channels we receive feedback from our guests, employees and other stakeholders, and we analyse and log the results. We provide our employees with orientation, occupational health and safety, hygiene, water and energy saving, chemical use, fire prevention and first aid training. We comply with Labour Law No. 4857, Laws No. 5510 and 6331. Our hotel's Sustainability Team leads the sustainability work.
Accessibility
Within our capabilities we offer accessible service to everyone and provide accurate information about our level of accessibility. In addition to physical barriers, we also make improvements for our guests with visual and hearing impairments, and we maintain our accessibility arrangements on a regular basis.
Purchasing
We give priority to local suppliers provided they are of good quality and reasonable price, and we measure the share of local purchases. We prefer environmentally labelled products and suppliers certified to standards such as ISO 14001 and ISO 50001; for wood, fish and paper we select products that carry environmental certifications (FSC, MSC, EU Ecolabel) or are traceable to source. We do not buy or use threatened species. We reduce transport by purchasing in bulk or loose goods and avoid single-use and unnecessarily packaged products, especially plastic.
Cultural sustainability
We respect the intellectual property rights of local people. We keep traditional and contemporary local culture alive in our cuisine, design and decoration, and we give priority to local products in our cuisine. We do not broker the trade of historical and archaeological artefacts, and we do not display such artefacts.
Energy
We measure, monitor and reduce our energy consumption by type and unit; we give priority to renewable energy whenever possible. We apply measures such as thermal insulation, low-consumption appliances and LED lighting, and we inform our employees and stakeholders about energy saving.
Water
We measure our water consumption and report it per guest and per night. We assessed the water risk of our region with the World Resources Institute's Water Risk Atlas tool and we apply a water management plan. We use water-saving equipment and change bed linen and towels according to our guests' wishes. Our water comes from the mains or from a licensed well; for wastewater we comply with local government regulations.
Waste
With our Solid Waste Management Plan we measure, reduce, reuse and recycle waste. We separate waste into food, recyclable, hazardous and organic, and we deliver them to authorised and licensed companies. We report the amount of solid waste, including food waste, per guest and per night, and we comply with the Zero Waste Regulation.
